Lonodn is a very old city, and millions of people have lived and died here... Hallowe'en is the perfect day to perhaps meet some of them. You'll go on a guided tour around some of the places in The City which many people believe to be haunted...
A visit to the Geffrye Museum, London's museum of interior design, where you can see traditional English living rooms from the last 500 years, visit the gardens and have a relaxing time woth other students. A visit to one of London's best- loved food markets, and the nearby Barbican Arts Centre, one of London's favourite buildings, with cultural events all year round
On Friday, visit the famous and beautiful Spitalfields market, in the East End. The market is open Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Sunday is the busiest day, Thursday is for antiques, and Friday is for fashion and art. Visit the beautiful and ancient Royal Palace, in beautiful gardens next to the River Thames.. To celebrate finishing all your hard work during the pre-sessional course, we're putting on a party in the Rocket on Thursday 11th September from 5.30-9pm. Tickets cost £3, which includes snacks and musical entertainment. It's likely to continue in a pub in Holloway afterwards...Come and get your tickets from Alex in LC105C. See you there!
On Friday 5th September, you'll all be handing in your essays, so in the afternoon/evening, you will deserve to relax a bit. We have a trip to Brick Lane- meet Roy at 5pm in the open area. Brick Lane is full of South Asian food restaurants (especially Bengali food), which serve excellent food at reasonable prices. There are also lots of bars and clubs in the street, it depends how late you want to stay out...
A visit to this part of London where there are three of London's biggest museums: the Victoria & Albert (arts, crafts and fashion); the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, as well as the beautiful Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall. They are all free, and we'll visit which museum is the most popular on the day, and go for a walk in the park in the weather is nice...
The Queen's little flat (ok- big house!) is only open to the public during the summer, so we've booked a trip there for next Wednesday (27th August). As places are limited, come and get tickets from Alex in LC105C- there are just five tickets left, so if you'd like to go, be quick! We arrange activities for you to get together with other students, get to know London a bit better, and practise your English outside class. We have a variety of activities- visiting unusual and interesting places in London, going to festivals, pubs and playing sports...Most of the activities are free, but sometimes we arrange visits to more famous places (like London Zoo, the Tower of London etc.) with a group discount.
